The Company of Dance Unlimited is a competitive performance dance company for beginner to advanced level dancers. We place a strong emphasis on overall dancer growth. Dancers are placed in routines based on current skill level, growth potential, performance quality and sometimes experience.  Dancers are considered for 1-3 group routines.  Any alteration to placements, for any reason, are done at the discretion of Dance Unlimited.

Our Philosophy

At Dance Unlimited we strive for all dancers to reach their potential and gain confidence, strength, poise and coordination through disciplined exercise.  This success is predicated on mutual assistance, respect and diligent effort between our team, dancers and parents.  Our culture of success is baed on our DANCE philosophy, which are 5 elements that will help all of our staff and dancers reach beyond their potential!

DETERMINATION :  the firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end.  The Company is a huge commitment that requires determination throughout the entire year to ensure that all of our goals are met, not only as individuals, but as a TEAM.  Persisting through difficult times and constantly maintaining a fighting drive will ultimately allow us to perform and grow as necessary!

ARTISTRY : creative skill or ability.  Developing artistry requires time and focus.  Remaining coachable with an open mind will allow you to flourish and tap in to your creative ability.  Reaching beyond your comfort zone, maintaining confidence and not being afraid to attempt new skills and movement will allow your artistry to grow!

NOBILITY : having or showing fine personal qualities or high moral principles and ideas.  We want all of our dancers to be respected and admired not only for their hard work but for their character.  This can be displayed within our own studio as well as at competition when we interact with our competitors.  Always being approachable, showing good sportsmanship and having a positive attitude towards others are great ways to show your nobility!

COMMITMENT : the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity or team.  The Company requires a huge commitment to not only the craft, but to each other!  Being present for yourself and the team is a key factor leading us to success!  We want our dancers to have a strong commitment to their team and craft but as well as to being a growing human!  Maintaining a healthy body, mind and spirit is crucial!

EMPOWERMENT : the process of becoming strong and more confident.  Having a strong team bond amongst our team, dancers and parents will allow us to take our dance education and competition success to new heights!  Again maintaining a healthy body, mind and spirit is crucial to our empowerment of each other!

Training

All members of The Company and competitive soloists have a required training regimen that is scheduled one night a week.  This regimen includes  Strength & Stretch, Ballet Technique, Tap, Choreography Combo and Leaps & Turns.  Regular attendance to training is crucial for the growth of our dancers.  Dance Unlimited believes in having a well rounded and diverse training that equips dancers with a useful set of tools.  Training is designed to focus on rhythm, strength, flexibility, dance technique, class discipline, We understand that there may be times where a dancer may miss these classes.  In the event of an absence on your training day we require the ballet class to be made up on another night.  However, your regularly scheduled training day is unable to be permanently substituted for another night and regular attendance is expected to ensure success!  If attendance to these classes becomes an issue, then we reserve the right to remove dancers from the competitive roster.  Removing a dancer from the The Company is the last thing we want to do, but to be strong competitors training must be a priority!

For our training regimen, if we feel that our dancers need to focus in one area more than others we may temporarily rearrange the schedule.  For instance we may replace Leaps & Turns with additional time for Ballet.  We also recommend that a dancer take our additional classes for additional training!  Mastering basic fundamentals is imperative for dancers to take their abilities to the next level.

The proper dance attire is required for all classes.  A black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes will be required for ballet classes.  Tap shoes are required for tap and all other classes require appropriate dance shoes for that genre.  All restrictive and baggy clothing is not allowed under any circumstance.  Any clothing that may pose a safety issue is not allowed.  This includes pajama pants, oversized sweat pants, denim wear, hoodies or any similar clothing articles.  We prefer Dance Unlimited colors be worn during class, other than Ballet, but it is not required.

Weekly Rehearsal

We attempt to limit our competitive dancers to a required 2-3 days per week in the studio!  During rehearsal we work on perfecting each routine to prepare it for the competition stage.  This is an ongoing process throughout the year that never ends.  Even when our routines become performance ready we continue to make them even more performance ready!  Attendance to rehearsals is required and expected of all team members.  By regularly missing class you are putting your spot on the competitive floor at risk and may be removed at the discretion of Dance Unlimited.

Power Hour

In addition to our weekly rehearsals, we have scheduled Power Hours which are extra rehearsals throughout the season.  These are scheduled in advance and the dates will be released no later than July 1st.  We implemented the Power Hour schedule to allow more time for rehearsals and to prevent large amounts of practice in a small time frame, especially before competitions.  Just like any other rehearsal, attendance to Power Hour is expected.

Choreography Camp

All competitive group choreography is learned during our choreography camp!  Choreography Camp is held the last three weeks of August.  Eligibility for competition requires your attendance during these three weeks!

Competitions & Convention

We are currently working on the competition/convention schedule for the 25-26 season!  We have reached out to several competitions for updated fee schedules and dates for their tour!  Once we obtain all of the dates we will release the schedule.  If that competition did not immediately give an updated fee schedule then we will update this as soon as we receive it!  Fee schedules reflect what the competition is charging and those fees may change over the summer.  Once the schedule is released please mark these dates in your calendar!

Attendance to competition and convention is mandatory!  Dancers unable to meet this commitment will not be placed in a Company routine or be allowed to compete.  This obviously does not include extenuating circumstances such as a death.  At times we will attempt to make accommodations for major life events such as the dancers Junior/Senior Prom.  We cannot guarantee the competition will be accommodating and attendance to the competition remains mandatory.  This is rarely an occurrence.

We are wanting to offer our clients full transparency when it comes to competition fees.  For scheduled studio events we markup the entry fees by $20.  If you are wanting to attend an event (convention, competition) that is not on the studio schedule, fees will be marked up $20 plus a $25 processing fee.  These markups allow our educators to be in attendance as well as cover any additional required cost.  If you choose to attend an event that is not on the studio schedule, please note our educators are not required to attend.  You can request an educator attend your non scheduled event.  All cost associated for that educator will be your responsibility, and charged through Dance Unlimited, if they are available to attend.

Epic will be returning for our in studio convention.  This is required for all Company members.  In addition to our convention Epic staff will also be the judges for DU One that will be held the Friday preceding the weekend of the convention!

Private Intensive Routines (PIRs)

Private Intensive Routines are competitive solos, duets and trios. Please remember that competing a PIR is a privilege and that our group routines take priority.  In the dance world you are rarely on stage by yourself and Company dancers main focus should be their group routines.

All PIR choreography will be required to be started by October 1st and be completed no later than November 15th to be eligible for competition. PIR choreography is $540 per dancer.  This will appear as a $54 charge on your account August-May.  This allows 4 hours to learn the choreography and 5 hours of cleaning.  Duets/Trios will get 5 hours of choreography and 5 hours of cleaning. Additional cleaning options can be purchased at $30 per half hour.  For dancers 10 and under as of January 1st, 2026, you can purchase an additional hour of choreography for $30 per hour up to an additional 3 hours.  Cleaning session dates will be released in advance for sign up.  All cleaning is with your choreographer.

Please remember that you are renting the choreography and exclusive creative rights remain with Dance Unlimited and the choreographer.  We do not allow any choreography to be performed under the name of another organization, business, independent registration or dance studio under any circumstance.  We also, under any circumstance, do not allow any outside choreography for PIRs. In the unfortunate event any of the above occurs, a $1500.00 per dancer fine will be charged to the account and the PIR will be pulled from all competitions.  All outstanding fees in relation to the PIR will remain the responsibility of the account holder and will not be removed or refunded.  These include entry fee, costumes, choreography, cleaning sessions or any other fees relating to the PIR.  Please understand that this is to protect the creative integrity of the routine, our dance educators and Dance Unlimited.

Costuming

All costuming must be approved by the Dance Unlimited administration.  All costumes must be age appropriate for the dancer.  The safety and protection of our dancers is of the utmost importance.  We want all of our dancers to look strong, confident and fierce in the best way possible!  Depending on how certain costumes fit and move with the dancer additional modifications may be required once we see the costume on the dancer.

Spirit Wear

We will have options to purchase spirit wear throughout the year!  If you want to make your own spirit wear that uses our name, image or likeness, approval of design by the Dance Unlimited administration is required.  Upon approval of your design, a $5 per unit royalty fee will be owed to Dance Unlimited for the use of our name, image or likeness.  We do not allow the name The Company, or any variation of, to be used to make outside spirit wear.
